WE ARE HIGH FIVE

High Five Selections was founded in 2023, in the middle of a verdantly-green, defyingly-steep vineyard in the Sausal mountains of South Styria. We weren’t looking to start a wine import company, but sometimes the universe has unforeseen plans. A one-month visit to Styria in 2023 turned into the gift of new roads, new friends, new wines, and a new appreciation for extreme farming. After just two winery visits, we knew that the story of Styrian wine, and of Austrian wine in a broader context, needed a refresh and rebrand in the US. Yes, many liters of grüner veltliner have been exported to the States, and yes, the great rieslings of the Wachau are beloved, but the story and moment for Austrian wine is just so much bigger.

Our portfolio is made up of small, family-operated vineyards, farmed only by human hands. All of our growers work organically, and most are certified biodynamic farmers and winemakers. Their wines are made with wild yeasts and without manipulations in the cellar, including the use of additives outside of sulfur as needed. We couldn't care less about dogma, but we deeply appreciate the farming philosophies that all of our growers live by. Most importantly, these are wines of heart, made by kind, good people who are the truest stewards of their land.

Throughout their careers, they’ve loved and drunk their fair share of Austrian wines, and often pinch themselves that High Five is the next evolution of their careers.
